The Religious Education Explorers Program is in full swing. This new RE UPDATE page will have on it various news items related to RE and dates of importance for you to check.

  • December 25, 2011 - No childcare or RE groups this Sunday. Please join us for the Assembly.

 

February Night of Awe - February 4, 2012

 

Please join the Seasonal Celebrations Team and RE Committee for a multi-generational “Night of Awe” on February 4 for a tour of the heavens. Take a field trip to the Como Planetarium (www.planetarium.spps.org). Boarding for the bus to the Planetarium at FUS starts at 3:45 pm. The program at the Planetarium starts at 4:30 pm. The bus to the planetarium leaves FUS no later than 4 pm or you can meet us there.  Afterwards, at FUS, there will be a lasagna dinner and a hands-on star activity led by Mad Science (www.madscience.org) and an adult reflection. Dinner will start at 6 pm. The activities will begin around 6:45 pm. The activiy with Mad Science is free for kids.
 
You can join us for both events or just for one. Please sign up early and obtain a free ticket for the Planetarium trip, as space is limited. As of January 15, ALL PLANETARIUM TOUR SPACES ARE FILLED.  There is a waiting list for tickets for the Planetarium Tour - sign up at the ticket table at Sunday Social Hour.  Please notify us if you have tickets and will be unable to attend. Space is still available for the dinner and post-dinner activities.
 
 
Dinner tickets are $5/person, $10/family.

Senior High Youth Group 2011-2012 Schedule

The trip this year will be to General Assembly on June 20-24th. We will be flying there and staying in a hotel. We will be fundraising for this all year long. The theme of GA next June will be a social witness for the immigration policies. The whole GA will be devoted to the topic of immigration.

  • January 8:  Do the “Ralph” statues 
  • January 15:  Immigration Movie 
  • January 22:  Begin our immigration investigation.  Also sell cake pieces in Social 
    Hour 
  • January 29:  To People Serving People…..will return at 1:00 
  • February 5:  Brain storming for Youth Sunday topics 
  • February 12:  Immigration Movie and sell Ralph statues 
  • February 19:  Candles of Joy and Concern 
  • February 26:  Immigration topic: speaker, movie or discussion 
  • March 4:  Ditto 
  • March 11:  To People Serving People….will return at 1:00 
  • March 25:  Immigration topic.   We will decide about doing Night on the Street in 
  • April.   Also sell cake pieces in social hour 
  • April 8:  EASTER—NO CLASS 
  • April 15:  Candles of Joy and Concerns 
  • April 22:  Start to prep for the youth service.  Also sell cake in social hour 
  • April 29:  To People Serving People…..will return at 1:00 
  • May 6 and 13:  Prep for Senior High Youth Service 
  • May 20:  SENIOR HIGH YOUTH SERVICE 
  • June 5:  --Senior recognition in service.  Do a game at the RE Carnival 
  • June 20-24 WE ARE IN ARIZONA!!!!!!!!
