Shared Interest Groups
Shared Interest Groups
Community is formed when people come together and share of their ideas, knowledge and passions.
Take a look at what we have available and try a group out!
Circle Suppers
Circle Suppers provide an opportunity for members to socialize in small-group settings for dinner and conversation. Each fall, members and friends register to participate and are organized into rotating groups for four monthly Circle Suppers beginning in January. Generally, the dinner is held at the home of the host, but the host may also reserve the Dietrich Room at FUS for the supper. The evening’s host serves the entree and quests provide the rest of the meal. Circle Suppers are a chance to meet new friends through an evening of conversation and fun.
Registration for these is in the Fall. Stop by the Membership Table, or ask the Membership Coordinator.
Heritage Suppers
This program is similar to Circle Suppers and includes a structured discussion around the history of Unitarian Universalism and Humanism. The group meets in a member’s house and stories are read of our religious heritage. The group is encouraged to share their thoughts on discussion questions. These are held in October and April each year.
Registration is in the Fall and Spring. Stop by the Membership Table, or ask the Membership Coordinator.
Women's Awareness Group (WAG)
This group grew out of a “Women in Religion” class taught at FUS over 22 years ago. Over the years, it has explored literature, art, film, ideas and current issues important to us as women. Our awareness grew as we discussed these issues frankly for the very first time. We continue to be a group of women of all ages, varied interests and occupations, single and married, who enjoy stimulating discussions, shared insights, and the respect we hold for each other. We appreciate the confidentiality maintained by this welcoming group, which gives us freedom to discuss ideas and concerns. Laughter comes easily and, of course, the food is terrific.
Meets: 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 PM for pot luck. Rotates to member's houses.
Men's Awareness Group
This group gives men a place to discuss their hopes, frustrations and feelings about being male in our society. Group experiences may include the discussion of readings or topical events, watching a film, or giving support to a member in need. Some members have attended for many years but new participants are welcomed.
Meets: Second Mondays, 7:30 - 9 PM, FUS.
Senior Discussion Group
What is on your mind? What are you thinking and talking about? Come share your ideas as we gather to converse about topics affecting us as we age.
Meets: 2nd Wednesday of each month, 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the Dietrich Room (except summer)
