Sunday Schedule
Welcome to Worship!
If you believe that your gay brother and his partner
are holy children of God just the way they are;
If you want leaders who speak the truth of their conscience,
and are not silenced by church hierarchy;
if you think that heaven might be big enough for people who are different from you.
including your Muslim neighbors;
if you want to see your children grow in wisdom
through respectful understanding of other peoples' faiths;
if you are troubled by worshipping a god who calls for genocide
and is satisfied by suffering;
if you think morality has more to do with the boardroom than the bedroom;
if you are ready for a grown up religion;
that encourages you to think for yourself instead of telling you what to think;
then maybe it's time for the next chapter in your journey of faith.
Unitarian Universalist religious communities help each other grow into wise, loving people who are fully alive and make a difference in the world. Most of us didn't start out in this tradition, but we found a spiritual home here.
What can I expect from worship here?
We welcome all who are searching for a liberal religious community, and we know it can be hard to take the first step towards a new faith community. Here are answers to a few commonly asked questions - hopefully these will allow you to hit the ground running!
What time do you meet?
We have an earlier 9:30 a.m. Forum that's less formal in tone, and features presentations on anything from interfaith collaboration to voter fraud.
What does a Humanist worship service look like?
Our beautiful worship services vary in style, with music ranging from contemporary folk to a full orchestra. We draw our readings from a broad range of modern and ancient texts from many cultures, and the sermon is accessible and welcoming to folks from any faith background. What should I wear?
Our members and friends dress in a manner that is casual and comfortable for them. Business casual is the most common, but you can wear anything from blue jeans to a ball gown.
What happens after the service?
Every Week
We host a social hour with complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies. You are welcome to browse our Library and Bookstore at any time before or after the service.
Monthly
We hold a monthly Soup Lunch, usually on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Four or five delicious soups are served, as well as salad, bread, and a light dessert. Visitors are invited to be our guest at these lunches! Just check in at the Greeter's Table with our Membership Director, Laney, on your way in to the service.
Ceremony of Grieving and Healing. This is a brief ritual where participants light a candle in honor of lost loved ones. The ceremony begins at 12:15pm on the third Sunday of the month.
What will my kids do?
We have childcare for babies though preschool-age children, and religious education classes for kindergarten through senior high school youth that are held during service. See our Bring the Children! Section for more information.
